International Sindhi Sammelan 2007

• The 14th International Sindhi Sammelan was held in Singapore from 27th – 29th of July 2007.
• The main sponsors were Coutts Bank and Kewalram Group.
• Its theme was "Striving to Stay Connected"
• Over 900 delegates from 35 countries attended.
• Mr Murli Chanrai, Mr Bhagwandas Melwani & Swami Swaroopananda of the Chinmaya Mission were honoured with Service to Community Awards.
• It was the first time that the Head of State President Mr S.R. Nathan, attended a Sindhi event when he opened the Sammelan.
• Many distinguished guests including Deputy Prime Minister Prof. S. Jayakumar, also graced the opening session
• Leader of Opposition in India Mr L.K Advani flew in from Delhi specially to address the Sammelan.
• Prof. Kishore Mahbubani (Dean of the LKY School of Public Policy) gave the key note address.
• Accolades for our Sammelan Chairman, the then President of the SSA Mr Deepak Gurnani and his organising committee were received from all the delegates.
